Asus has a good
reputation in the market for portable computers, much less on that of
smartphones. Taiwan's attempts so far showed differentiation tendencies, not
always well received by the general public in our countries. This Asus Zenfone 2 32GB 4GB RAM approaches the current
standards of high-end, with tight prices. After being observed in our
laboratory for several days, it would not be wrong to state that Asus has
remained successful in passing all the hurdles.
Asus is one of the few manufacturers who trust Intel for
its smart phones. This version of Asus Zenfone 2 32GB 4GB RAM tested proves to be the most high-end, namely ZE551ML
declination, with Full HD IPS panel of 5.5 inches (about 14 cm diagonal). This is an Intel Atom Z3580 SoC quad-core clocked at
2.3 GHz officiating, assisted by no less than 4GB of RAM and a GPU PowerVR
G6430. Shooting is entrusted to a back-end 13 megapixel sensor and its frontal
colleague 5MP. There is 32 GB
internal memory, expandable by adding a microSD card.
Asus Zenfone 2 is equipped with 3000mAh battery, which
serves as the source of electricity for the device. The latest technology of
the power bank offers quick recharging, according to Asus 60% of the battery
can be recharged in 39 mins. The machine is embedded with Andriod Lollipop 5.0,
with enhanced overcoat ZenUI House. Moreover, the phone is equipped with two
SIM card jacks, one for 4G, the second is limited to 2G. Some may criticize the Asus Zenfone 2 32GB 4GB RAM due to the lack of originality of its shape, as Asus seems to
have dug the side of the competition, including LG and G3, with the volume
buttons placed at the rear and accessed using the index. The lock button is in the top bracket on the other
hand, a bad idea since it is almost out of reach of midsize and smaller hands. It is however possible to lock and unlock the screen by
double tapping thereof.
The finish of this Zenfone 2 is blameless. The assembly is good and the back cover would almost
pass for its plastic brushed aluminum and is always like an LG G3. The dimensions (152 x 77 x 11 mm) of Zenfone 2 do not
compete in the category of ultrathin smartphones. However, the curved shape of its back allows it to
offer a very pleasant grip; especially the coating will prevent slipping from
hands. The display of Zenfone 2 carries an IPS panel 5.5-inch
Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) offering a comfortable resolution of 401 dots per
inch.
The
back cover can be customized with different colors. Front view of the Asus Zenfone
2 32GB 4GB RAM looks like its big brother, for instance the location of the logo on the
speaker, and the buttons below the 5.5-inch screen. The fact that Asus retains
a familiar design is not a bad thing, but the manufacturer could have opted for
"touch" buttons integrated on the screen a bit to reduce the size of
the unit.
